Senior Danner Martin has been a part of the Lipscomb family since she first came to Lipscomb in eighth grade from East Literature Magnet Middle School. One major activity that has been a part of her life since she was eleven years old is roller derby. Roller derby is a sport that not many people know about, but it is a full contact sport that consists of two different teams skating aggressively around an oval track scoring points by passing as many people of the opposing team as possible while avoiding getting knocked down by the team on defense.

Danner started playing in sixth grade because at the time she wasn’t playing any sports and it looked like something that was different and interesting to her. As she continued to play, she realized she had potential in the sport and continued to play. In the spring of 2015, she tried out for a spot on the Team USA East World Cup Team and was one of the two from the state that made it and ending up competing on the team during the summer of 2015. This past spring, she tried out for the USARS Olympic Exhibition Team for the South East Region Team and was one of the three from the state who participated this past summer.

Outside of school, Danner works at Pied Piper Creamery in East Nashville.  In her free time, she loves walking her six year old beagle terrier mix named Zarley.  Danner also likes to watch movies and bake in her free time. Next year, she either wants to attend Sewanee, UTC, or Lipscomb and wants to major in history or political science.
