During the 2017-2018 school year all sports teams will be competing in Division II athletics. After plenty of discussion and prayer, the school decided that this would be the best decision for all athletic teams. Lipscomb University president, Randy Lowry, has endorsed this decision with support for the Board of Trustees. Lipscomb Academy is now going to be able to provide financial support to students who want to play a varsity sport. The move will also better serve current juniors and below. Those who play a varsity sport will now be able to access need-based financial aid.

The Mustangs will be competing against teams such as: Brentwood Academy, Baylor, Montgomery Bell Academy, Christian Brothers, and Ensworth. The competition will be substantially tougher; however, teams will be more than capable of having success.  Senior, Kendall Richards said, ” I am very excited to see what is in store for our athletic teams next year. I expect them all to get better due to the competition.”
