Lipscomb Academy’s brightest stars gathered in a constellation of talent this Saturday at Alumni Auditorium. The show was directed by Ms. Harrell and emceed by student body president and LA senior Jimmy Gilfilen.

This year’s talent showcase took place in early September, rather than the show’s usual January slot. Fortunately, this time jump didn’t affect the turnout: these acts were some of the best in years, ranging from classic rock piano covers to magic shows backed by original music.

A large number of Lipscomb seniors kicked off their final year of high school with a number of memorable performances. Connor Hinson wowed the audience with magical illusions; Abigail King and Judson Chaudoin gave a spirited cover of “Breaking Free” from High School musical in one of the most memorable acts of the night. The Erabellas’ tight harmonies and instrumentation brought the left the auditorium in a state of awe. Finally, Gleam, a barbershop quarter comprised of Jimmy Gilfilen, Hudson Parker, Holden Montgomery, and Judson Chaudoin, closed out the night with an acapella tune called “Smile”.

While the upperclassman certainly gave it their all, the lower classmate held their own. Halle Parker sang a heartbroken ballad accompanied by a full band and Nicholas Paschall gave the rock classic “Killer Queen” a new twist on grand piano. As usual, the Mustangs showed the world that they’ve got talent to spare.
