When Nashville’s temperatures start to quickly plummet to single digits, brave Lipscomb Academy students bare the cold and throw on their Speedos to jump into a giant tub. It’s swim season! Despite LA’s swim team being fairly small, they are more than fairly good! In fact, many of the teams’ participants have qualified several times for district and state meets.
Meets happen weekly at The Williamson Country Recreational Club, and there are special events at Sewanee; The University of the South and in Nashville at The Jewish Community Center!
The seniors on the team include; Lindy Kate Gaw and Flynn Chen. Both are team captains! When asked about his time with the team, Chen responded, “I swam through some tough waters with discipline that will benefit me for the rest of my life.” That says it all. Lynn Griffith, LU professor, is coaching the swim team this year for the third season.
If you are interested in seeing LA’s swimming Stangs crush every competitor, come down to the Jewish Community Center January 21st at 4 o’clock.
