Alexander Hamilton has entered Broadway like a “hurricane.”

What? Alexander Hamilton? But he’s dead!

The actual Alexander Hamilton may indeed have long gone, but Lin-Manuel Miranda has gifted Broadway with a new musical Hamilton about the legacy of the “10 dollar founding father.”

Not only did Lin-Manuel Miranda write the book and music for Hamilton, but he’s also starring as the principal character alongside so many more talented cast and crew. The fascinating retelling of Alexander Hamilton’s history was inspired by a biography Miranda picked up in an airport and couldn’t put down.

This new-age musical adds a new twist on history: rap and hip-hop singing revolutionaries and presidents of many colors. Characters that historically would be Caucasian are played by characters of many different backgrounds which adds a beautiful mixing of American culture that belongs to every American citizen, regardless of background.

Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda has created quite a buzz on Broadway and has revolutionized musical theatre for the better.
