Okay, so raise your hand if you’ve read at least one Percy Jackson and the Olympians book by Rick Riordan. When I was in middle school, you were cool if you knew about Percy Jackson. Since those days, Riordan has written a series on Egyptian mythology, a sequel series to Percy Jackson, and as of a few weeks ago, the first book in his new series on Norse mythology, Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer. Now some of you are probably thinking “dude, enough! You need to stop writing about the same thing over and over again.” My response to you would be, no. No no. With every book,  evil arises and death-defying quests are undergone, but each time is just as thrilling as the last as new and diverse heroes step up to the plate. Magnus Chase is no exception. When he battles against a fearsome fire giant from the mythical world Muspellheim and dies, he is sent to the Viking’s warrior afterlife Valhalla. But he can’t stay there for long. Somehow he must return to Earth to find the lost sword of summer that the giant seeks and stop the impending apocalypse. This book will have you laughing until your sides hurt one minute and crying until your eyes are swollen the next. Make sure you don’t miss the epic beginning to this amazing series.
